Anne Paterson – Why I Loved Perth Film School

One of the best presents I have given myself this year was to enrol in Perth Film School’s Show Reel workshops.  After attending several Perth based acting courses and filming several student shorts, I decided not to wait months for the footage I had been promised, to pass through Post-production.  It had become clear that a quality Show Reel was the next step in my career.  I chose Perth Film School after being an extra on set with Ross as DOP for The Silent City Feature Film due for release in 2014.  Ross’s cinematography is of the highest order with his top end Red cameras, camera angles and blocking techniques, having also filmed for “Fishing WA” and Betty Tran’s Fashion Film that was shown at the Sydney Fashion Week festival earlier this year.  Ross’s vitality, enthusiasm, energy and sense of quality drove me to make that call to Nicole Ingleson at Perth Film School.

Perth Film School’s Nicole Ingleson was warm, nurturing and very supportive from the start.  She took the time to help read several possible roles then coaxed and guided as required through a number of rehearsals to develop the colours and notes required for my delivery and an entertaining scene.  Nicole had guided me through choosing appropriate scenes, one comedic and one dramatic, as strategic & realistic role choices that I could see myself applying for.  Nicole also guided me through set dressing, prop selection, wardrobe choices and mannerisms to help make the character come alive for me.  It is her personalized tailoring of each actor’s Show Reels to demonstrate their best performances that really made this workshop so worthwhile.  As a result, actual film days ran very smoothly with a small but supportive crew and fellow cast members and were  lot of fun.

Thank you for such a wonderful experience and sense of achievement!
